Outline
JAXA launched ALOS-2 (DAICHI-2) which equipped PALSAR-2 last year. PALSAR-2 has an advantage in immediate capturing land deformation and forest and vegetation conditions by a special function of enabling to observe all time (day/night and weather). JICA carries out REDD+ readiness projects for development of forest resource information system on tropical rainforest countries.
On this event, JAXA and JICA launch a new and epoch-making initiative for early warning system of deforestation and forest monitoring on tropical rainforest. We also share the expectation and application by developing countries, and discuss the measures to promote forest conservation and ensure forest governance.
