Side Event at Bonn Climate Change Conference Development of NFMS and MRV system for REDD+ - Learning from Demonstration Activities

Report

The Bonn Climate Change Conference took place from May 14 to 25, 2012. The conference comprised the 36th sessions of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) and of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA), the 15th session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA), the 17th session of the Ad hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex I Parties under the Kyoto Protocol (AWG-KP), the 1st session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP), and side events.

The REDD R&D Center took part in the side event and made a presentation, "Development of NFMS and MRV system for REDD+ - Learning from Demonstration Activities". For the coverage of the side events at the Bonn Climate Change Conference, please visit here.

In this side event, the outcome of our international seminar held in Tokyo in February, 2012 was also reported.

The key themes of the seminar were as follows:

  • Introduction of technical knowledge acquired from practical hands-on activities in Viet Nam by JICA
  • Introduction of a technical manual "REDD+ Cookbook" which has developed by FFPRI
  • Development of reference emission levels (RELs) in Cambodia and issues in MRV
