The REDD Research and Development Center held a side-event entitled "What can National Forest Monitoring Systems (NFMS) do? - Development of NFMS and MRV system for REDD+ -" at the 18th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC. In this side-event, possibilities and further challenges for the development of forest carbon monitoring systems will be presented and discussed based on the results and experiences from countries' ground-oriented activities. A technical manual on NFMS and MRV for REDD+, "REDD+ Cookbook", will be unveiled.
