Guests from the Republic of Mozambique as a part of JICA Training Program

On June 7, 2016, FFPRI welcomed two guests from Republic of Mozambique; Mr. Xavier Sakambuera SAILOR (National Director, National Directorate of Forestry, Department of Inventory of Forestry Resources) and Mr. Joaquim Armando MACUACUA (Forest Officer and Focal Point of the Platform of Information System of Sustainable Forest Resources to Monitor REDD+), under the auspices of "The Project for the Establishment of Sustainable Forest Resources Information Platform for Monitoring REDD+ in the Republic of Mozambique." This activity was organized as a training program by the Japan International Cooperative Agency (JICA), "Utilization of forest resources information system for REDD+ and forest governance."
Mr. SAILOR and Mr. MACUACUA made a courtesy visit to President Dr. Haruo SAWADA, and Vice-President Dr. Hiroki KATSURAGAWA, to exchange views on sustainable forest management. Then, Mr. Yoshiteru SANO, Senior Researcher of Climate Change Laboratory, overviewed domestic forest research, and Dr. Tamotsu Sato, Chief of Community Dynamics Laboratory, described the work of the FFPRI REDD Research Development Center. Productive discussions were held during the seminar and the schedule was extended until all questions were answered.
