Purpose of the Event
Forest is the largest sink for greenhouse gases except for the oceans. Sustainable forest management and sustainable wood use as carbon-sink or renewable energy can contribute to climate change mitigation. Japan has restored its devastated postwar forests to one of the highest forest coverage in the world, and continues to support developing countries' efforts against deforestation based on past experience. This seminar will welcome four presentations and explore ways to promote both mitigation and adaptation through forestry activities in developping countries.
